E-SONIC 2: Engineering-Symphonic Orchestra New Instrument Competition

Exploring the richness of Indigeneity through the beautiful Atayal language and the heritage it brings to contemporary composition.
On Friday March 7th at 1:00pm, acclaimed Canadian pianist, Angela Cheng will perform a solo piano recital, followed by a masterclass for CTSA music department students at 2:00. A major prize-winning virtuoso and Professor of Piano at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Cheng enjoys a full and active concert career, performing at major venues with international artists and world-class orchestras. The performance and master are free and open to the public and will take place in Winifred Smith Hall.
On Friday, January 10th from 1 -3:00pm, pianist, Hans Boepple from Santa Clara University will give a master class for the Music Department piano students. The class is free and open to the public and will be held in Winifred Smith Hall.

Daniel Shapiro, Piano Faculty, Cleveland Institute of Music, will perform Brahms Sonata No. 3 in F Minor followed by a master class with piano students from the Claire Trevor School of the Arts, Department of Music.
On Wednesday, October 16th, at 1:00pm in Winifred Smith Hall, The London Music Club Quartet will perform Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G Minor and Robert Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E-flat Major, two of the most iconic works written for piano quartet.
