Symphony Auditions & Repertoire

UCI Symphony Orchestra auditions take place each year during Welcome Week. Appointments are required. Specific orchestral excerpts and a portion of a solo work are required each year. Please see the excerpts packet linked below containing your instrument.

 

2025-2026 String excerpts are here. String auditions are held on Tuesday, September 23. Sign up here to audition, and make sure to choose an available time on the 23rd, not the 25th.

 

Winds, Brass, Percussion, Harp and Orchestral Piano (abbreviated WBP) excerpts are here. These auditions are held on Thursday, September 25. Sign up here to audition, and make sure to choose an available time on the 25th, not the 23rd.

The Conductor

Dr. Geoffrey Pope, Director of Orchestral Studies, has been recognized through numerous appointments, commissions, and awards as a conductor and composer. Pope’s musical work has taken him throughout the United States and Europe, where he seeks to present provocative and engaging performances that have a strong cultural impact. Pope returns to the faculty an Assistant Professor of Teaching.
