#UCIArtsAnywhere

As our faculty, students, and staff prepare for an unusual spring quarter of remote teaching and learning, the lyrics to Barbra Streisand’s “People” keep swimming through my mind. “People, people who need people, are the luckiest people in the world.” In a world facing an international pandemic, it seems that now is the time when we need to rely on our people, and we are lucky to have the incredible connection of people through the UCI Arts community. Connection can be a phone call, a virtual meeting, a solo performance, a shared piece of art, or a fun social media post. It means staying connected in a virtual world during this period of isolation.

This week the Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) launched #UCIArtsAnywhere, a social media campaign responding to restrictions and changes in the face of COVID-19. The goal is to keep our UCI Arts community connected and to share the ongoing creative and academic work happening at CTSA. With #UCIArtsAnywhere, the aim is to acknowledge the disruption to normal campus life COVID–19 has brought, while also tapping into the spirit CTSA will bring to remote learning this spring. We invite you to join us in supporting the sense of community #UCIArtsAnywhere will create while we are all practicing social distancing for the health and safety of the campus and the broader community.

In addition to working to create a positive shared experience, we want to acknowledge the challenges many artists and workers in the theatre and creative sectors are facing right now. People are losing their livelihood during a time when they need it most. In an effort to assist with many of our readers who fit in this category, we have compiled a list of resources we hope will be helpful during uncertain times. People - helping people.

CTSA’s mission remains firm: to inspire, to inform, to uplift, and to provide impactful experiences through our many creative outlets.

We are truly grateful for your ongoing support of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts and we look forward to staying connected with you in the weeks and months ahead through a vibrant online social community.
