TY Zhang

TY Zhang, an acclaimed classical guitarist, achieved international recognition by winning the Grand Prize at the 2017 Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition, becoming the first Chinese recipient of this prestigious honor. His notable career includes a significant U.S. tour with a celebrated Carnegie Hall debut and the release of a highly praised solo album in 2018. Zhang’s achievements span top prizes at major competitions across Europe, Asia, and the U.S. Most recently, he and violinist Strauss Shi, as ArcoStrum, made history as the first violin-guitar duo to win the 2023 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition. In addition to his own successes, Zhang's students have earned awards in numerous competitions and received full scholarships from prestigious conservatories, including Berklee and Juilliard.
