Graduate Student Performances in the xMPL

Join CTSA graduate students from each of the four departments for a series of virtual performances in the Experimental Media Performance Lab (xMPL). The xMPL is a black-box space with a focus on interdisciplinary and experimental projects. Below are the residency dates for students. Performance dates will be announced online - check back here often!

• May 3-14, 2021 – Tomoko Ozawa (Music)
  
  • I hear you. Do you? is a set of music composed by pianist Tomoko Ozawa, for solo piano and an ensemble, featuring Blake Harrison-Lane on violin, Bella Pepke on cello, JoVia Armstrong on percussion and herself on piano. Participants engage in performance by expressing their ideas, listening and responding to each other, taking initiatives to make changes. Solo works will be performed on the disklavier and piano with the motion sensor, MUGIC®.
  • Live-performance is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday, May 14.

  • Laura Solomon's sound project, A Beautiful Song About Incontinence Neglect, is a musical setting of her text about institutional elder care, structured as a choral work using digital recording and looping to multiply her voice.
