Mark Micchelli’s music blurs the line between composition and improvisation, “high” and “low”, the concert hall and the club. He’s currently interested in exploring the stylistic intersections between contemporary classical, 1920s jazz, North Indian classical music, and punk rock. Mark’s primary instrument is piano, although he also performs on accordion, guitar, and his large collection of children’s noisemakers.
Mark received his B.A. from Columbia University, where he studied music and computer science. He leads a secret double life as a computer programmer, and he’s currently developing web-based ear training software for use in high schools and universities.
