This course is intended to serve as an introduction to Schenkerian techniques of tonal analysis. We will rely on a custom textbook by Oxford University Press (ISBN 9780190225636), taken from Analysis of Tonal Music: A Schenkerian Approach, Third edition, David Gagne and Allen Cadwallader. Homework, scores, and audio will be distributed in class or on this site. Bring staff paper and pencils to every class! You may want to print out special "Schenker paper"
