Guitar & Lute Undergraduate Repertoire Requirements

The UCI Guitar and Lute program encourages applicants that are looking to expand their technique and repertoire. Applicants playing at intermediate to advanced levels are encouraged, but those with less experience and showing promise will be considered.

• Appropriate audition material would be classical pieces showing an understanding of different styles, e.g. Bach, Renaissance, romantic or contemporary periods. Examples include Dowland: Fantasia, Narvaez: Variations, Bach: Presude BWV 999, Matiegka: Sonata, Guiliani: Variations, Tarrega: Preludes, Mertz: Bardenklange, Ponce: Preludes, Poulenc: Sarabande, Dyens: Tango en Skai
• For auditions, a nylon string classical guitar is required.
• Electric or steel string guitars are not permitted.
