New Premieres by Nicole Mitchell in Brooklyn and Chicago

Flutist, composer and ensemble leader Nicole Mitchell premiered a new work called Maroon Cloud on March 29 for the Stone Commissioning Series, in Brooklyn at National Sawdust. On April 7  she will premiere a new work featuring the poetry of Gwendolyn Brooks as part of an Artist-In-Residence with University of Chicago's Logan Center for the Arts. Mitchell's performance with the Black Earth Ensemble is part of the University's centennial celebration of the life and legacy of poet Gwendolyn Brooks. Read more about the Brooks celebration here.
