For the past 12 years, David has been Principal Trumpet for James Horner, who composed the new themes. The recording sessions were in July 2006, and took place at CBS’ Todd-A-O scoring stage in Studio City. From fanfares to lyrical solos, the trumpet plays a major part—being the definitive sound of The CBS Evening News.

David recently worked with James Horner on the movie "All the King’s Men," which is being released in Fall 2006. Other projects that kept David busy this summer were recording the themes for the NFL and NBC Sports with John Williams, composer and the film "Cinderella 3" with Joel McNeely. David will again be the featured soloist with The New York Chamber Music Society in December; and coming in February and March 2007, he will be a soloist with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.

David Washburn presently holds the position of Principal Trumpet with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra , Pasadena Pops Orchestra and is Associate Principal Trumpet of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra.

Some of the most recent recordings include principal trumpet on All the King’s Men, The Legend of Zorro, Troy, The Missing, Radio, Jungle Book II, Holes, A Beautiful Mind, Windtalkers, The Grinch, The Perfect Storm, Titanic and Deep Impact. You can also hear David on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.

He has also served as principal trumpet and soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and has held teaching positions at Cal State University Northridge, Redlands University, Idyllwild School of the Performing Arts and the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.
