Membership Requirements

Membership in the UCI Symphony is open to students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the community. Entrance into the orchestra is by audition. Auditions are held annually during Welcome Week of the fall quarter and at other times by arrangement with the conductor.

Audition applicants may be required to:

(a) perform a solo demonstrating competence on their instrument
(b) perform portions or all of any pre-selected excerpts.
(c) demonstrate proficiency in sight-reading.

Use every resource available, i.e. scores, recordings, live performances, etc. to prepare yourself adequately.

All excerpts should be prepared. Selections will be made by the panel, at the audition.
