UCI Vocal Arts has a proud tradition of pre-professional training for young singers. Via concert and staged productions, UCI Opera maintains high standards for opera production. Past opera’s presented include the Southern California premiere of Ned Rorem’s Our Town (based on the Thornton Wilder play), Puccini’s Suor Angelica, J. Strauss' Die Fledermaus, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneus, Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, and William Grant Still’s Highway 1, USA,  among many others. UCI Opera works in collaboration with UCI Symphony, under the artistic direction of Darryl Taylor, and Maestro Geoffrey Pope. 2024 Opera Production: Britten's The Turn of the Screw, with stage direction by Andreas Mitisek.
