George McMullen

George McMullen has been a popular professional trombonist for over twenty years. In that time he has played with a tremendous variety of musicians and artists in jazz, rock, R&B, latin pop, and latin jazz, and has recorded for albums, television, films, and jingles.

He has also done a variety of live TV including celebrity award shows, and appearances on all of the major late night and early morning talk shows. He has also been honored to participate in five grammy nominated performances, including three grammy winners with the Brian Setzer Orchestra, two for best instrumental, and one for best performance by a group.

Currently he is most visible in his role as the musical director and trombone soloist for the Brian Setzer Orchestra for whom he has worked since 1993. Some of the other artists George works with, or has worked with in the past include Oingo Boingo, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, Tom Waits, Bobby Caldwell, Tony Bennet, Lou Rawls, James Newton, The Luckman Jazz Orchestra, George Lewis, Doc Severinsen and the Tonight Show Orchestra, Vinny Golia, Poncho Sanchez, Sheila E., Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Eddie Santiago, and Tito Nieves. Some of his film credits would include ³The Mask,² ³Me, Myself, and Irene,² ³Three to Tango,² ³The Frighteners,² ³McHale¹s Navy,² ³Stewart Little,² ³Playing God,² ³Santa Claus II, The Mrs. Clause,² ³Jingle all the Way,² and more. His TV soundtrack credits would include ³Home Improvement,² ³Soul Man,² ³Costello,² and ³Nightmare Ned,² as well as others, and also jingles too numerous to mention. Music recording credits include artists listed above and many others not.

George McMullen remains busy in the Los Angeles area as a freelance trombonist and is currently also a part of the music faculty at the University of California at Irvine.
