UCI Opera & UCI Symphony Orchestra
Gian-Carlo Menotti’s The Medium

Robin Buck, artistic director
Stephen Tucker, conductor

Menotti's thriller about a fraudulent spiritualist who preys upon grief-stricken people seeking to communicate with their dead was a huge Broadway hit in 1947 and, 60 years later, it still fascinates. The title character, believing she has contacted "the other side," finds her world spiraling out of control in this macabre "opera noir."
