Is there much collaboration in ICIT and the School of the Arts?

We place a high value on collaborative work, and it is a key feature of the culture we seek to create in ICIT. The musicians of ICIT are a tight-knit community who compose for each other, perform together frequently, and help each other realize project. All ICIT students participate in the Contemporary Ensemble, in which graduate music students work together with faculty to produce concerts of new music. Many students collaborate with graduate students of the other excellent departments in the Claire Trevor School of the Arts—Dance, Drama, and Art— to develop interdisciplinary works. For example, the UCI Dance Department has faculty who do video-related work using a Motion Capture Studio that is in the Contemporary Arts Center as well as the facilities of the California Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technology (CalIT2), a major technology research center with a base here on campus.
