Yung Wha Son holds a Ph.D. in music composition from the University of California at San Diego.
She was a recipient of a postdoctoral Fulbright Fellowship to Paris, a Franco-American Commission Grant, and Beebe Funds for study in Europe.
She has received commissions and grants from the American Music Center, Meet the Composer, iEar Studios of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute,
and the Chamber Music Conference and Composers' Forum of the East, Inc. in New York.
She has taught music at Bennington College in Vermont and has most recently taught in the music department at the University of California at Irvine.
