Examples of Audio and MIDI files on the Web


There are two main ways to provide music or other sounds on the web.

  1. Providing the actual sound data in an "audio file"
  2. Providing a musical description to be played, in a "MIDI file"


Examples

This is an example of some ways to use audio and MIDI files on the web.

The two most obvious reasons you might want to use music files on the web are:

Providing examples of music or sound to be downloaded and listened to

Providing ongoing sound background ("muzak")

Be careful! This can be really annoying if it's unwanted.
