In the subject heading, be sure to include the words "Audition Reservation" followed by the NAME of the instrument on which you will perform (piano, voice, violin, etc.) The body of the message should include: 1) your name, 2) your cell phone number, and 3) two choices for a preferred audition date and time. Dates are given above; you may request a time between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. OR between 2:00 pm and 4:45 pm. It is important that you follow these directions exactly; otherwise your request may not be recorded properly.
Although we will attempt to schedule you at the requested date and time, we are unable to guarantee that we can do so in every instance. In any case, you will receive email from us in early January in which we indicate the day and time of your audition.
Download and complete the Audition Registration Form and bring this with you to your audition.
Please read the following information carefully:
All applicants apply to the B.A. program and must demonstrate appropriate vocal or instrumental proficiency, as determined by the results of the Department's required entrance audition (typically scheduled on campus in late January or early February). Transfer applicants who perform at a sufficiently high level in the entrance audition, have the requisite background in music theory and musicianship, and wish to earn the B.Mus. rather than B.A. degree, will be offered the opportunity to change their degree objective from B.A. to B.Mus. upon matriculation at the University.
All students who are offered admission as Music majors are considered, as appropriate, for one of the Department’s limited number of undergraduate scholarships. There is no separate application to be submitted and no need for applicants to take any special measures to ensure consideration for a scholarship.
If you have any questions about the application process, send an email to music@uci.edu. If you have any questions about undergraduate curricular matters, contact our Undergraduate Director, John Schneiderman.
