Nors Josephson Piano Concert and Lecture
October 21, 2011, 1- 3 pm, Winifred Smith Hall

The UC Irvine Music Department and the UC Irvine Libraries present a piano concert by Nors Josephson, respected American musicologist and pianist, and Professor Emeritus of Music, CSU Fullerton

Professor Josephson will give a concert on contemporary American works, including works by composers Neil Raines and Eric Satie

Josephson received his B.A. in Music from UC Riverside, and his M.A. and Ph.D from UC Berkeley in historical musicology.  As Professor of Music at CSU Fullerton, he developed innovative new music curricula, and established a number of composers’ festivals dedicated to the music of Stravinsky, Webern and Bach.

From his current home in Germany, Nors continues to be active composing and performing new musical compositions.  In 2005, Josephson established the Nors S. and Waltraut Abstein-Josephson Library Endowed Fund in support of the Libraries’ research collections.
