As a pianist, Nohema Fernández performs worldwide as recitalist and symphony soloist. The Cuban-born pianist formally debuted in Havana at age 16. She has recorded for the Musical Heritage Society, Protone Records, MusicMasters, and Centaur Records, and is the recipient of the NEA Solo Recitalist Fellowship for performances of Pan-American works and the Distinction of Honor “La Rosa Blanca” (Los Angeles) for her support of Cuban music and culture. Her articles have been published in Piano Quarterly and Latin American Music Review, and she is the editor of “Toward the End of the Century: Cross-Cultural and Minority Perspective,” published by the College Music Society.
